Jeff Garlin’s Character on ‘The Goldbergs’ Killed Off for Season 10

Jeff Garlin's character on "The Goldbergs" will be killed off following the actor's departure from the series, the show's co-showrunners Chris Bishop and Alex Barno told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Tuesday.

The 60-year-old actor and comedian left the ABC Family sitcom in December following allegations of misbehavior on set.

Garlin left the series back in December, following reports that he was allegedly involved in verbal and physical conduct that made people The Goldbergs feel uncomfortable on the set of

Garlin's character, Murray Goldberg, will be dead for "several months" by the time the show's 10th season premieres on September 21, and members of his family will have already grieved him

There's going to be a family that hasn't reconciled the fact that their father is gone, but has moved on and dealt with a lot."

Barno said that instead The Goldbergs would focus more on the impending arrival of a new baby for newlywed characters Erica (Haley Orantia) and Geoff (Sam Lerner)

With the major changes, another showrunner, Chris Bishop, said, Season 10 "feels like a huge reboot to us honestly."

Bishop and Barno's comments come five months after McLendon-Covey defended  "The Goldbergs" from a reporter who criticized how the show handled Garlin's exit .
